Independent Sector for the Suppression of Corruption establishes, promotes and performs cooperation between holders of implementation of measures for the suppression of corruption.
It assists and supports the holders with the aim of suppressing corruption; it drafts annual reports on implementation of measures regarding national, strategic and implementation documents and addresses them to the Croatian Parliament sessions.
It cooperates with the National Council for Monitoring the Anti-Corruption Strategy, it performs professional and administrative tasks for the Committee for monitoring the implementation of measures for the suppression of corruption; it incites the application of European and other international policies regarding the suppression of corruption and it follows the implementation of suggestions by the Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO).
It participates in the activities related to the application of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the Council of Europe Criminal Law Convention on Corruption and its Additional Protocol and the Council of Europe Civil Law Convention on Corruption.
It cooperates with the public sector, private sector and with local and regional self-government and participates in drafting and monitoring their action plans regarding the suppression of corruption; it participates in the programmes related to public awareness raising and in education on harmful effects of corruption.
It performs tasks of creating promotional flyers and brochures; it establishes, improves and promotes cooperation with civil society organisations with the aim of permanent counselling between the civil society organisations and beneficiaries of strategic and implementing documents.
It collects and analyses data on implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy; it drafts measures for the corresponding action plans; it drafts special reports on the legislative framework and trends on suppressing corruption with the statistical data for existing types of corruption.
It implements systematic analysis of institutional and legislative framework, methods of prevention and protection of "whistleblowers", it carries out surveys related to spreading and causes of corruption.
It deals with collecting, analysis and publishing of all important data related to the suppression of corruption, follows statistical data on processing corruptive criminal offences, it collects and analyses definitive judgements.
The Sector is a headquarters for harmonising and data exchange on the suppression of corruption among all the relevant bodies on the national level, it develops new possibilities of collecting statistical data; it prepares the documents for the minister and other members of the Government of the Republic of Croatia on the suppression of corruption; it performs other tasks that minister confides them.
The scope of the Independent Sector for Suppression of Corruption is stipulated by the Decree on Internal Organisation of the Ministry of Justice (OG 28/2012).
